Stuck at home with time on your hands and want to watch a life-changing series? Special is a new Netflix comedy that engages with disability, sexuality, independence, and self-advocacy

You can watch the whole season in 2 hours, and it’s likely to be one of the funniest, smartest shows you’ll see all year.

Series writer and lead actor Ryan O’Connell, taps into his own living experience as a man with cerebral palsy and his challenges he faces navigating his home life, his work life, and his sex life.

And here’s a review of the show written for the CBC by disability activist Andrew Gurza:

We also highly recommend “Sex Education” another great Netflix comedy series starring Gillian Anderson (of X Files fame) as a professional sex educator, and Asa Butterfield as her high-school-aged son. It’s not too much of a spoiler to say this series demonstrates that even professional sex educators sometimes struggle to discuss sex with their immediate families. It’s a smart, entertaining series for teens and adults alike and it does a great job of modelling consent. It can also be a great conversation starter for some of those awkward topics…
