The Disability Alliance of British Columbia has awarded $40,000 to Real Talk for their Building 2SLGBTIQA Community Initiative.
On December 3rd, the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, the BC Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction announced that Real Talk was a recipient of one of the Disability Alliance of British Columbia’s 2022 Accessibility Projects.
Beginning January 1st and running until December 31st 2023, Real Talk will be launching its newest initiative: Real Talk: Building 2SLGBTQIA+ Community. This initiative will be operated by Kinsight Society and partnering with QMUNITY.
Inspired by Toronto’s Lumenus Community Services‘ (formerly Griffin Centre) Sprout Program, we will be connecting 2SLGBTQIA+ folks with cognitive disabilities with the broader queer community of Metro Vancouver, building queer confidence in Community Living Organizations, and building disability confidence in local queer organizations. We are thrilled to see what we will achieve together, centering the voices of the 2SLGBTQIA+ folks we support.
