Smart Sex Resource is a sexual health info website operated by the BC Center for Disease Control. It’s probably the highest traffic website of its kind in the province. Their new landing page prominently features a photo of a couple with Down Syndrome right near the top. The position of the photo in the scroll suggests the couple is using the website’s Clinic Finder function to access sexual health services like contraception, testing, or treatment. This is the first time a major BC sexual health website aimed at the general population has included front-and-center representation of people with learning disabilities – and it may even be a North American first!

Here’s to Smart Sex Resource for breaking new ground, and here’s hoping more representation gets people thinking differently!
