Connecting Queer Communities will be attending the global premier of A Place Where I Belong, a documentary about our first year as a project!
Connecting Queer Communities (CQC) is a social group for folks with cognitive disabilities who are 2SLGBTQIA+, curious, questioning, or who want to hang out with their queer friends.
Connecting Queer Communities (CQC) is excited to end the 2025 Pride season with a BIG event. On Sunday, September 14th, we’ll be attending a global premier of A Place Where I Belong at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival. A Place Where I Belong is a documentary made by local filmmaker Rheanna Toy that followed our CQC group in our first year, as well as explores queerness and disability in Vancouver.
Wear your CQC t-shirt if you have one, and make sure to register your spot so we can buy you a ticket!
We will meet as a CQC group at 1:30pm outside of International Village Mall (click for Google Maps link). There will be two CQC staff members waiting out front of the mall for everyone to arrive. If you are coming by public transit, the mall is a 4 minute walk from Stadium-Chinatown Skytrain Station. Once we’ve all arrived, we will walk inside the mall and take the escalator up to the theatre where we will take our seats for premiere.
For this CQC event, we’re asking register as soon as possible to ensure we can buy your ticket (they anticipate this premiere will sell out). We’re also asking folks to bring some money for public transit if that’s how they plan to arrive, as well as some money for food or drinks which they can buy at the movie theatre. If you cannot take public transit on your own and need help with transport, or need ASL interpretation, email Kelsey at kelsey@real-talk.org.
